Lexington, KY (October 31, 2023) – Fayette County Farm Bureau recently announced that Walnut Lawn Farm has been named a “Legacy Farm” by Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB). Walnut Lawn Farm was recognized as a “Legacy Farm” for their long-standing commitment to farming, contributions to the local community, and involvement in KFB.
The Legacy Farm designation created by KFB is awarded to farm families who have demonstrated a commitment to agriculture and the strengthening of rural communities. County Farm Bureaus across the state can nominate three local farms for the honor each year.
Walnut Lawn Farm Farm has been active in production agriculture since 1842. Today, the farm is run by Robert L. James II and produces corn, soybeans, wheat, rye and sorghum.
“We want to show farmers across Kentucky that we appreciate their hard work and dedication. Without Kentucky farmers, we would not be where we are today. And when I say we, I mean not only Kentucky Farm Bureau, but also our state,” said Mark Haney, President of Kentucky Farm Bureau. “Walnut Lawn Farm is certainly worthy of this designation. Thank you, Walnut Lawn Farm, for your many years of commitment to Kentucky Farm Bureau and Kentucky agriculture.”
